Self catering cottage, in an elevated position in the stunning and sought after village of Vouvant, Southern Vendée.

ACCOMMODATION

The semi-detached cottage sleeps 4. The newly created fitted kitchen diner with exposed beams and stone wall has an oven with grill, hob, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge and microwave.

The spacious and comfortable double aspect lounge boasts superb views over the village and has UKTV and a CD player along with a selection of books and jigsaws.

Upstairs are the pretty bedrooms, a double and a twin, and a tiled shower room with hand basin, w.c. and heated towel rail.

Bed linen is provided and central heating means all year availability. Outside is a raised veranda with patio furniture and the large garden has a covered seating area. Two adult bikes are available.

VOUVANT

Vouvant is a picture book village with its ramparts and meandering river. It has 2 cafés, an auberge with restaurant, a creperie, bakers, grocers, chemist and hairdressers, far more than most French villages and all in easy walking distance of the cottage.

It has been designated “Village of painters” and there are galleries and ateliers to visit. During the season there are street markets, a folklorique festival and opera. Last year saw Carmen performed in front of the impressive Romanesque church.

The Mervent forest is minutes away and there are several nearby lakes for swimming. Sandy Atlantic beaches are about an hour away. The Vendee has a microclimate, which means a good sunshine record, and there is much to see. Within 10 kms of Vouvant are towns such as Fontenay-Le-Comte with supermarkets and banks etc.

The airports of Nantes, La Rochelle and Poitiers are within easy reach and all the channel ports can be reached in a day.
